When will the Tactilis server issues be dealt with and when will the visorlids be available? It has been some time in the waiting...

Angry AARRGGHH!!

Less than 36 hours after receiving my Flipcover, I dropped my Visor on concrete and broke the hinge. The Visor survived with a variety of gouges in the case, and the screen remained intact and unscratched. It is too bad that the Flipcover had to so bravely sacrifice itself for my Visor...

Needless to say, I have a new hinge on it's way.

Talking Customer Service Testimonial

Just wanted to relay this story to you folks....

I ordered a flipcover, but when it arrived the hinge was broken. I emailed Zee with the sad situation, and he (?) replied quickly by shipping a replacement hinge. No questions asked. This represents fantastic service on flipcover's part and deserves customer support.

Oh, by the way, it's a GREAT addition to my Visor!

Thanks, Zee!

i agree about flipcover's service. i have a hinge that broke (can't say if it was due to my considerable strength or the hinge), but zee is sending one out already. they are very good at communicating with the customer. thanks.

Angry FlipLid Where are you?!

I have had the FLipClip and a Palm III lid reproduction for a couple of months. The Clip work well except for an occasional "slippage."

The lid is just better than nothing. I have been patiently waiting for the promised FlipLid but it still has not appeared.

I have sent three inquiries to Tactilis (Phone: (847) 275-7474: Fax: (718) 247-2342: e-mail: [email protected]) and I have received no reply! I am wondering if this company is still in business?

Question FlipCover ala Platinum

Okay, so I'm interested in this FlipCover...but a few questions:

1. When do you expect this new version that is compatibal with all modules?

2. When will the Platinum colors be ready?

3. How about an Aluminium version? Now that would rock!

Thanks...

Cool

After reading all the posts for both the Flipcover and the fliplid. I was divided between the two. I finally ordered the Flipcover. Placed the order on a Tuesday afternoon and it was in my mailbox Friday morning, great shipping. The cover is just fantastic. I am very happy with it. This is a quality product and would recommend it to everyone.

I spoke to Tactilis via a phone call around the first of March and was told that the Flip Lid would be shipping later this year. Of course, he also said they would be taking preorders by 31March2001. I saw they changed servers 18March2001, so maybe they are getting there. This is one product that I am very interested in.

Talking FlipLids 'n such

I've read all the posts on this thread. I have sent 4 e-mails to tactilis and have yet to receive a reply. I even went to the desparate effort of placing an order with them for $6 to get a FlipClip for my Visor Prism. That was almost a week ago and no cover. Although, I did tell them to cancel my order (within the original order) if they don't support the Prism/VisorPhone both.

Here's what I need:

I have a Visor Prism and VisorPhone. I want to be able to use my GoVox Flip cover (previously on a Palm III) on my Prism/VisorPhone. Can the FlipLid offer such an option or is FlipClip (the deadbeat folks that they are that don't know how to check e-mail), the only resource for such an option?

Thanks,

Jon

free tactilis flip lids for anyone who wants them

i know this is exactly the right forum for this, but since everybody's trying to contact tactilis....

i have a black and an ice flip lid (palm reproductions) and a black and ice flip clip. i bought 2 sets a few months thinking that i would use one and give the other away as a present to one of my friends, but when i received it, i didn't like the fit or added bulk of it at all. these have never been used and i'm willing to part with them if you are willing to pay for shipping (which probably includes some bubble wrap envelope sent first class or something like that). they're sitting in my desk drawer collecting dust and since i now use the flipcover, i should do something nice and offer them to anyone for free.

please don't be greedy and ask for both sets. i'd rather give them to 2 people than just one person. just reply to this forum with your email address and i'll contact you. oh yeah, you can pay for the shipping via paypal after i've shipped them (that way, i'll know exactly how much those bubble wrap envelope thingies cost).

Hi Nhatman,

I would really appreciate one of those sets you mentioned and all too glad to recuperate the cost of shipping to you. I can be reached via e-mail to finalize the details.

Thanks in advance,
zer0phase

Flip Cover and the Prism

I am very interested in getting a flip cover for my prism, but I'm not too excited about getting black. I noticed their site has ice also, have any prism owners bought the ice flip cover? What's the status on the prism blue cover for the prism?

Posted by Nhatman on 04-13-2001 06:36 PM:

wwang and zer0phase, i received your emails and will be contacting you shortly. since wwang mentioned that he preferred the ice and zer0phase didn't mention any preference, zer0phase can get the black one.

please note that these are the palm iii reproduction lids that are currently being offered by tactilis, NOT his new flip lid design that seems to be MIA right now.

plastic strength

I have heard that clear plastics are by nature weaker than opaque plastics. Does anyone out there have the technical background to confirm or deny this?

Flipcover, are you there?

The reason I am asking this is that I have have a blue flipcover (and it is wonderful), but I recently dropped it and broke the hinge. I ordered black replacements (I have a graphite visor), hoping that the aforementioned rumor might be true.

Post Hinge is Broken too

My hinge also broke but I did not drop it. The only thing I did was remove the cover and then put it back. later on I noticed a crack in the hinge, and some time later on it broke . I would be intrested to know if the clear hings are weaker but since I already ordered another hinge this may be moot.

I ordered the flip cover a week and a half ago and less than a week later got it (I'm in Israel!). I love it. I ordered a blue and a transparent one, and got them. The following day I got an email saying they had sent me a black one instead of the blue one by mistake, and were therefore sending the right order out. 2 days later I got the black and transparent ones (which were supposed to get here first but who cares ).
Anyways, their service is excellent and the product too, it really is what handspring should ship the visors out with.
Of course, after being module-less for 8 months, I just now got both a matchbook CF adapter and a Minstrel modem - both oversize modules. But I like the flip cover so much I'll just keep switching.
Oh and I have 2 of tactilis' covers too - the fit is really poor. My visor fell while it had one of those on and shattered its screen. Ouch.

These are great!

No kidding, whoever said that handspring should purchase the FlipCover in bulk and offer with their Visor units (sans Edge) was right on. I just received my flip cover and OH MY GAWD this thing is awesome. So, I flcked off the "head-gear and Palm III" monster rig I had and inserted the Flip Cover. This is PERFECT! VERY strong, VERY tight and, closed, just so precisely integrated to the Visor form factor.
I had the Tactilis and, God love 'em, but bulky, quirky, loose fit, sliding clip, AYeee!!!!

Question Oversized module support?

Did this announcement ever take place? The lack of support
for oversized modules is the only thing keeping me from
buying...
