Newbie questions

Just left the Psion platform (mac unfriendly) to enter the visor platinum world, I have 2 questions.
1. Do I have to buy DesktopToGo in order to avoid sending my private adress records to my pc at workduring a sync, or there another, simpler, less expensive method? Freeware, shareware?
2. At home I use an iMac, is it possible to keep my visor in sync with both the pc at work and the iMac at home without mixing up things? On my iMac at home I would like to sync my agenda and private adresses, at work I would like to sync my agenda (same) and business adresses.

Well, let's see...

1) No. Right-click on the Hotsync Manager icon in your system tray, and select "Custom". When the window pops up, pick your username from the drop-down box. Then click once on "Address" and click the "Change" button off to the right. From there, you can select "Do Nothing", and your address will stay safe and private on your handheld.

2) That being said, my solution above affects all your records, or none. I don't know of a way to only synchronize a certain category. I don't have DesktopToGo, or I would try it.

Yes, I am looking for a way to sync all my business adresses with the pc at work, without syncing the private adresses; I understood DesktopToGo does such a thing, I downloaded a trial version of this program, let you know if this works; still surprised this issue has not come up more often, seems so logical: keeping business and personal matters separated...

That's a problem I've had too...anybody know of a what to alter the conduit or a program which will let you decide which categories to sync, instead of only the addressbook as a whole?

I sync with Outlook at work, since my team uses it, although I prefer the simple Palm Desktop interface that I use to sync on my home computer. For one, you can't see/edit the categories for Memos and ToDos...or Addresses for that matter. Can't find all my custom fields in Outlook, and when I have more than one line for an e-mail or tel.number and I enter into the field in Outlook, it gets truncated the next time I sync.

For the moment I only "crypt" (with the TealEdit DA - it's only a simple substitution encryption though) my ToDo's and Memos which are really personal. The private flag is too time-consuming.
