IRQ Conflict with Serial Cradle
I went to install my serial port cradle on a new machine and it disabled the modem, due to an IRQ conflict. I have installed half a dozen cradles, both USB and Serial port and never had this problem. How do I reconfigure the IRQ settings so that I can use both the serial cradle and the modem?
COM 1 and 3 share the same IRQ (as do COM 2 and 4). If it's an internal modem, then it quite likely has installed itself at COM 3. Just plug your cradle into COM 2, or reconfigure your modem to use COM 4 and your IRQ conflict should go away.

And, make sure your mouse is in a PS2 slot rather than serial if you have one. Then, you free up another serial slot and IRQ.
