Is the Edge an upgrade

I've been a VDX owner for a couple of years now and love it.

But I've been in love with the Edge since I first saw it. Not much talk on this board other than a LOT of discussion on Tarnish.

Other than that - does it seem to be a pretty solid product? Any major problems with them? Are you happy with your purchase - would you ever consider going back to a VDX?

Er, read this thread. In it, Toby links several other threads (thx) that detail the significant quality control problems with the Edge.

I do consider the edge to be a significant upgrade from the vdx. it's sturdier, slimmer (w/out the sled), sexier, has 16 shades of grey & other os 3.5 improvements, fast lookup (which I miss heartily on my prism).

If it were me, I would upgrade--but only with a warranty from a local retail store like best buy. Now that it has a stowaway (although nobody's actually seen it yet ), it's a worthy purchase, IMO. But I still don't trust it's QC--so if you want it, get it, but be very aware.

The Edge was a Great pda in march. I bought mine in September.
It was also an upgrade from a blue deluxe.
I love my edge and think its so sexy!
The only thing I warn you of is, if you use springboards. That springboard sled is taking its toll on me.
The 16 bit greyscale is awesome compared to the VDX, its ir port is better, and you have more software compatability with the OS 3.5,
also the screen is smoother than all the other pda's I used. I don't have a scratch on it and I don't use any screen protector??? I don't know why butt I love it.

I say go with the visor PRO instead while you are still used to the feel and size. I am now spoiled on small size, and can never go back to a bigger size.

As for me I am trading in my edge for the M505...(yes I said M505 not Clie). For a few major reasons. I don't need an mp3 player to distract me. Also the size and look of the of it fits me more.
am superficial and do care about looks.

Thank you both! Those links took me quite a while to go through, but it more than answered all my questions - I think I'll just stay with my VDX till it dies. The only reason I'd go for the Edge is because it's so sexy - but I guess that's not enough to make me switch over...

Either I'll wait for a treo - or buy a dedicated ebook reader (hiebook or rocket...).
