-- Hanging After HotSync (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=16032)
Visor Deluxe. Windows 98 SE2. USB Sync Cable.
Installs new software fine. Syncs with various software fine. BackupBuddy works fine. Then it goes to the message: "Cleaning up. Please wait." (or something like that). And it hangs. Soft reset restarts and I've not noticed any other problems.
Thoughts? Suggestions? Etc. TIA

I get the same hanging. It just started happening recently. I always have to soft reset after this.
Sometimes I press the hotsync button and leave my computer for a while. If the Visor is hanging from this problem, it drains the battery because the Visor's power is still on! Definitely a problem.

Well, I have to recant my previous post. I just switched to a Visor Edge and for the first time in using Handspring devices I have encounter this problem. I do agree with jsbernstein that this is related to Avantgo. After I had the problem, I did a soft reset then disabled the Avantgo conduit. Everything is fine without Avantgo. When Avantgo would sync it would get to the "connection successful" screen and hang. It seems (as of this writing) that Avantgo is down so I'll wait until it's back up before syncing again.
I'll keep you informed....
Which Palm Desktop/Hotsync Manager?

Jeff,
The problem is that the new Palm 4.0.1 Hot Sync Software times out after a sync of over 3 minutes. Sometimes AvantGo takes longer than this to sync so the sync will time out leaving you with a 6410 in your log and no content. We are working with Palm to resolve this issue, but do not have a time frame. We are sorry and yes, going back to an older Deskotp software will resolve this issue.
Actually I'm using HS's software, not Palm Desktop 4.x or Hotsync Manager. My issue wasn't because of a timeout.
My problem was definitely related to canceling Avantgo during the Hotsync process. I know what not to do now to get around this issue now.

I'm using neither Palm's Desktop 4.01 or Avantgo (although it's possible there's still an old file hiding someplace). Handspring, in its usual wisdom, replied to me that it was 3rd party software and I should delete it. Of course, with over 300 files, it would only take a month to figure out which app it is. So for now, it's soft reset.
