- How To / Troubleshooting (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/forumdisplay.php?forumid=2)
-- I can sync on a locked Novell/NT computer. (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=2391)
I'm running Novell on NT (Novell IntraNetware Client) and when I "lock" the PC I can't access it again without the proper password. However, I can still sync with my Visor with my data just by sticking it in the cradle and pressing the button.
Interesting, but not too safe. I wonder what happens with other OS's/software.

Heck, I like the fact that I can do that
If someone was to try to sync to a blank Visor, it would require them to click on your name, so it would time out and nothing would happen.

Eugene,
The thing that you have to keep clear here is that the Visor is a "peripheral" device. It essentially communicates with a "server" component, the HotSync manager, when it needs to exchange data with the PC. This is no different than having shared folders on a workstation. They're still shared when the machine is locked.
To close this "hole" you'd have to either disable HotSync manager on locking the PC, or disable the USB or serial ports. Neither option is very attractive or feasible.

Yeah... thought about the Hotsync off option, although in reality it's not a huge concern since my office is locked anyway when I go home. But it's something others might want to think about. That, and not making one's username too easy to guess might help too.
