-- hilarious memplug review (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=15715)

Posted by gbgood on 06-04-2001 11:04 PM:

Well, I'm so excited about my new memplug that I'm reading everything I can about it.

On their website, they list a new review that is in chinese. Hey, no problem, I'll just paste the website in the altavista translater.
http://www.palmnotebook.com/memplug2.htm

I rotflol,
this is how it starts:
PiDirect 1.0 for MemPlug spurts the yeast!
last of the ten Heavenly Stems Visor, luxurious knee mast sparkling jade-like stone, shouts the strong little girl flaw, concubine cold desolate, flower teaches,
prostitute often

Somehow, I don't think this is an accurate translation of the memplug review.

I agree, while the MemPlug is great, I don't *think* it provides the functionality hinted at in your review snippet.

It's actually a pretty good review (once you get by the translation ). It has lots of screenshots and instructions on how to use the application.

That translation sure is hilarious though. I sure can't figure out how the review got translated like that...

Sideway,
I originally went to the site hoping to learn something new from our ingenious bros across the sea.

I just couldn't stop laughing after I started reading.

But you are right, the screenshots are nice, and a little DIFFERENT I notice.

Did you happen to learn anything interesting and new on this site that you care to share?

Well, it's pretty much the same as the other reviews you can find on the web. The reviewer moved some apps back and forth from the module to show that PiDirect works. And the reviewer goes on to say how wonderful PI is. I guess over there they don't need to buy MemPlug from PalmGear.

gbgood, how are the screenshots different?

Ah ha! If you translate it from Chinese to English, you get things like "luxurious knee sparkling moss jade-like stone", but if you translate it Japanese to English, it comes out slightly more intelligible: "the reason immediate resident in Visor family merely the possession Visor Edge, the Prism and Platinum three kind machine type yes use" and so forth.

The reviewer test with the beta of PiDirect,

and he don't need to move the apps back and forth. As he just place his apps and database on the SmartMedia card, After specified the path, and he enjoy those games, splash photo, dictionary, etc. The screen shots are some application he run on his module without any problem.

We will sent PiDirect to visorcentral to have a review soon.

Memplug will be available in compUSA soon!!

Yes, you are right. They DON'T need to buy it from Palmgear. They buy it from Handspring's reseller in Taiwan.

Thank you for clearing up after my post, PiDeveloper. I took a glance at the review last night and posted based on what I can remember.

Any plans on finding a Canadian distributor? (keeping my fingers crossed)

miradu, you might as well wait a couple of weeks and but it from CompUSA. Read this thread on MemPlug and PalmGear.

You forget "weigh" and "neighbor". Just gotta love English/American, eh? Sometimes I get the impression that the exceptions out-number the rules.
