Just curious surfing through all the hot sync problems people are having -- how many Visors are dead? Mine sure is as far as syncing goes. And it's worthless if I have to grafitti all the time. I want my money back or a sure fix! How about it guys? Anybody else mad here?

If you have access to a serial cradle, you might want to try syncing with it. While I've never had the chance to use my USB cradle (I'm running on Win2K, NT and Linux), I did lose the ability to sync about 2 weeks after getting my Visor. By changing the connection speed from the fastest setting to 38Kbps, I restored syncing.

Why even mention this to you? I ordered another serial cradle, and it was delivered in less than 1 week. That is faster than turning your visor in for replacement. You've got a 1 year warranty, and you might save yourself some trouble by waiting several months before asking for the replacement. By then they should have killed the backorder demon, and you should be able to get a replacement in a matter of days (instead of weeks).

Yucca - Thanks for the calming advice. Talked to Handspring support this morning and they are sending a new serial cradle. Hope that works. btw - How does one do a "Regedit?"

RegEdit is a utility that allows you to view and edit the Windows registry. In a nutshell, the registry is a database of your system hardware, software and all the settings used by the hardware and software.
If you edit the registry, it only takes one false step to prevent a clean boot on the next reset. So. Unless you have _very specific_ info from Handspring, I can't recommend messing with your Registry.

If you must use RegEdit, check to make sure that you have the latest version, and check for related info (like "Windows Registry") on Microsoft's web site.

I suggest that you backup the registry before messing with anything (even if you are just taking a peek)! I don't recall how to do this under Win95/98; but the details should be on Microsoft's web site.

Proceed with caution, and only make changes to one portion of the tree at a time. IOW, don't change settings for the Desktop software AND USB settings at the same time!
