Just did a soft reset, yup sounds back to normal, but still running at high speed..

IR works perfect now even at 42 Mhz.... ClockupDA is the one for me...

ClockUp DA questions

I downloaded it and read through the instructions, but they don't tell you very much. Can you use ClockUp DA with Afterburner? Do you need to or should you definitely not use it? What happens after a hard reset or after a soft one? Does it need to be reset? Before I try it, I'd love to find out some more about it, since I'm hapy with Afterburner except for the inability to beam at 45 MHz.

I don't see why you would want to use BOTH clockupDA and AB at the same time, they essentially do the samething, overclock your processor. AB offers more options like Fast Multiplexing, Removal of Waitstates and tweaking of settings like the LCD refresh rate, etc...

But it really causes weird stuff to happen on my Prism and I only got as far as 287% with AB, and I know fully well that that was because the overclocking wasn't working properly with afterburner, cos once when I reset and reinstalled my active hacks including AB I got 337% with afterburner... But IR really screws up, so does support for my Stowaway, so here I am now happily using ClockUpDA which gives me 322% when combined with quickbits. My Quickbits index is now 384..

ClockUpDA problem

I downloaded it an launched it, but it keeps reverting to 33 MHz, even after I set it to 42 MHz. Also, the instructions are a bit cryptic. He writes:
"Launch ClockupDA from your DA launcher on your Palm.
You can change master clock (10MHz - 42MHz) in Palm device using ClockupDA.
First time you start ClockupDA, disable to any other overclock utilities.
Otherwise, ClockupDA cannot get Default clock properly.
Also, you need to change clock to default using ClockupDA,
before before HotSync/IrDA/Serial/Network connection."

It's this last sentence that has me baffled. If you click on the default button, it goes back to 33 MHz. I can find no way to make the Default 43 MHz. And after I hotsync, it goes back to 33 MHz. Anybody know how to fix this, or what I'm doing wrong?

Seems like you misinterpreted it...
the Default button is not meant to set your current speed as the default speed. It sets your Visor back to its normal processor speed, be it 16 or 33 Mhz...

Have you tried resetting to see whether the Hotsync problem goes away? I had no problems with Hotsync, but of course it was after I soft resetted according to what VisorGuy said.

Thanks - I see what you'e saying. It works now, and gives me the same readings as Afterburner (both on makes no difference, though QuickBits definitely helps). And this time it held after hotsyncing. Interestingly, the high speed hs been either 42 or 43, but why the difference, I don't know. I haven't tried syncing yet, but I will tomorrow.

I have been able to get clock da to run at 42mhz on my VPR however quickbits is only reporting 290 or 291.

I ran the clockda first then hotsynced then enabled quickbits.

Also, if i do a soft reset, it reverts to the 33mhz in clockda.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

follow up with clockda

I notice that when I open clockda and the speed selection is on the screen, if i hit the applications button it pulls up my magic text box and refuses to go back to my applications screen (lauch'em color). However if I tap on the main screen, the clockda screen disappears and my applications button reverts to normal usage.

Perhaps a close radio button on clockda might be of use.

Mine stays at 42mhz with hotsync but not with soft reset

I have hotsynced a few times and clock Da still stays at 42mhz. However, if i do a soft reset it reverts. I have not tested the sounds yet, but there is no buzzing or other out of the ordinary operations and all applications appear to be running normal. I did feel with afterburner set at slower speeds than reported here, a more SNAPPY response in Action Names loading and such. I do not see that with clock Da and quickbits.

Still testing and any advice would be appreciated.

ClockUpHack minor weirdness

After hot syncing or soft reset or restoring I have noticed that ClockUpHack gives me different readings - usually 43 MHz is the top limit, but sometimes it says 44, and once it gave me 45, and once it gave me 55MHz! Interestingly, at 55 MHz, my Benchmark readings were unchanged from 43 MHz.

Anyone have any thoughts on this phenomenon?

Has anyone tried overclocking their Prism with a memplug onboard?

I don't know where there would be any conflict, but I sure could use the extra speed, since for now I'm using Launcher III, which allows for placing a prog on the memplug and calling it from an icon in RAM. But......it has to load the prog (you know, load, run, delete on exit).

It's totally acceptable (at least until memplug comes out with piDirect 6/15 for running apps off the memplug itself.)

Still.....if anyone has used quickbits and/or DA to speed up the process, I'd sure like to know.

Afterburner W (he's running out of letters)

So I got my registered update of Afterburner's V & W yesterday, and cranked it up tp 54 MHz...with very little noticeable difference. Benchmark was virtually the same, Pinemark went up by 100 (which is weird - the opposite should have happened, since lower is better), BigiHz went from 12/19 to 14/17, and PocketMark got better. I think 54 MHz is the fringe of making a difference.
