Can you still buy Omniremotes online? What color cases are they shipping? Or can you choose Ice or black? I have seen both and I am a bit confused. I want to pick one up. Have you seen them for cheaper than retail? 40 bucks is a little steep. I want to pick one up before they discontinue them or do something drastic like that.

But if Handspring utilises CF, the device will be significantly thicker... I would prefer if Handspring chooses SD/MMC. It's much smaller and it's a 50-50 since Palm is one of the major users of SD/MMC cards for their m500 series as well as the m125.

I forgot about thickness. Quite frankly, I really don't like SD/MMC. They cost twice as much as CF or SM and currently there are no large sizes out on the market for MMC. I have gotten to a point where I could no longer live without my 128MB card.

Sony has, in their T-Series. (While their remaining N-Series has an integrated MP3 player. Hmmmm...)

I hear you. I've gotten to the point where I cannot live without my 256MB CF card.

Edge with Colour Screen?

Dunno if this has already been discussed here, I just found the link on PalmInfoCenter:

Intelligence reigns at last. Pared down product line, with the possibility to 'return' to the visor when the [GSM] treo doesn't sell in the US. If true, HS may be sticking in the game longer than I had anticipated.

Not that I'm against a new Visor -- the more the merrier -- but, a product new leak through a Spanish PDA web site? Well, since Visors are manufactured in Mexico (correct, no?), I guess there could be sources there; but I wouldn't expect to hear from them unless they were starting to tool up for the product -- which would mean they're committed.

I still think this is "telling people things they want to hear". I'll believe it when I see it in the papers...

Actually, for some crazy reason, the Sony engineers added a SECOND 'commercial power' IR transmitter that ISN'T tied to the standard OS IR interface. There's a normal, incredibly weak IR transmitter for all PalmOS IR activity next to the strong IR transmitter than only works with a proprietary (and unreleased) Sony interface and the only app they have released for it is their Clie Remote Commander (which is pretty good, but is not programmable). Check out the pacific neo-tek site (creator of omniremote) for more details.

From the spanish website:
Palm OS 4.1.2 H (Handspring's modified version).

Do you think they would use 4? That would make it more than just a color version of the Edge, but more of a new Edge. Simmilar to going to a m505 from a Vx instead of m500. Would we see a mono-version of the Edge with OSv4 and 16meg? I am under the impression that the market doesn't have much demand for monochrome devices anymore, so I would understand if Handspring didn't release an upgraded mono Edge.

Even if Handspring offered a colour Edge with 16MB, it would be hard to compete against the Cli T-615 which is sold at a very agressive price.

I would switch to a new Visor ONLY if I can continue to use my accessories (Stowaway for Visor DLX, Compact Flash Adapter). The Visor Edge has a different serial connection, and external springboards are not practical. So there is no point in staying with Handspring if I had to buy new accessories anyway.

Ditto! I recently bought a sony clie 610. I love it, but must admit that the Prism screen is MUCH more vibrant but the clie is readable outdoors.

I would consider a better, color Visor but would like to be able to use all the peripherals I already have for my Prism...keyboard, modems, camera, voice recorder, etc.

Is there truly so much difference between the bottoms of the Edge and Deluxe that they couldnt' have used the SAME connector????

I totally agree.
