-- Stuck in HotSync cleanup mode HELP!! (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=9692)
Please advise me, somebody. I downloaded the trial version of DayNotez a few hours ago. About an hour later, I picked up my Visor, turned it on, and a message states, "HOTSYNC Cleaning up - please wait" And that's that. I waited and waited, but nothing. So, I tried some buttons, etc. The only thing that works is the Teal pop-up edit hack. That's it.
This is a first. Does this require a bonafide hard reset? I spoze it's not the end of the world. I have my handy dandy Springboard Backup module, just for such an event. But, before I do the *drastic* hard reset, any other advice? I'm sitting at my computer, waiting for an answer. I don't even know what hotsync cleanup mode is. This is a first.....<sigh>
TIA
Di

a system reset should disable the hack (conflict.)
Hold down your upscroll button and do not release until you've soft reset (reset hole at back.)
Avoid hacks, try alternatives.

The "system reset", described by mrknow, is also known as warm reset. That should work.
Before you try that though, you should try the soft reset (which is just resetting through the reset hole in the back of the Visor.) See Appendix A of your User Guide for more details.
Thanks. I should have known all this. I'm an idiot. Actually, the problem stemmed from the fact that I have this software installed, called Shield (I think), that automatically resets my Visor when the systems crashes. It works really well. BUT, when it didn't work after the HotSync for some reason, I panicked. I really thought this would be the first time I'd need to hard reset. The soft rest, simply sticking the pin in the reset hole, worked just fine. I'm an idiot. And you guys are so accommodating. Thanks

It's that moment of panic when the cybervillians wield their deadly sabers. We can beat them most of the time, though.
