Size and Weight
I have used a Palm III for over two years now. I always thought it was small and light. I found the Palm V to be to small for my hand and the screen of the M100/105 is too small. I think the CLIE has the same size but the 710 looks good in color.
I think what it boils down to is until it is a ring on your finger with voice recognition and holographic display capabilities that weighs under .25oz people will complain. Some will even complain then...
my $.02
Like ubik, I just don't get this size argument. I am also a large person, (6'4", 225 lbs), but I don't try to carry my VDX in my pants pocket. Ever since I tried to carry a pen in my pocket and got a pocketfull of ink, I quit carrying breakable things there. And carrying my Visor in my shirt pocket doesn't work, as it will fall out when I bend over. Anybody ever bend over to lift/lower a toilet seat and have their Visor fall in the toilet?
With my VDX, I bought a Franklin-Covey black, leather, belt holster. I don't use the belt clip, as I've never had a belt clip hold anything on my belt, but run my belt thru the loop on the holster, and presto, I can unnoticeably carry my VDX almost anywhere. It fits nicely under a suit jacket and if I really want to hide it, I can slip it further around to the back. Its instantly accessible, won't fall out (velcro top), and I don't notice it.
The Edge is very impressive, but that Springboard sled is ridiculous. If memory is the only expandibility one needs, than a Springboard is much too large. But how can you plug a modem cable into a Memory Stick? How do you plug headphones into a SmartMedia card?
Yes, we all have our pet peeves and individual preferences. For me, I'd rather see progress up the capabilities of Palm devices for the next 10 years, before they worry about shrinking them.
