I was wondering if you could store files in the memory of the various MP3 springboards. As I would probably buy one with a larger sized memory (32/64 MB) being able to use a portion of that memory as additional storage space would be a big selling point.

That seems possible ... you should forward the idea to Innogear and Diamond.
