-- Sync with Outlook98 (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=2066)
Does the Visor Dlx come with the software to sync email, tasks, calendar and contacts with Outlook or do I need to buy more software?
No additional software is needed. Included is Pocket Mirror, which installs a conduit between the HotSync Manager and Outlook. When you install the software, just select Outlook as the program you want to sync with (not Palm Desktop).
Is this fairly staightforward to setup? I would like to sync on my work PC and home PC.
Not a problem. I sync to Outlook 98 at work and the Palm Desktop at home. Both work quite well.

What if your sole purpose in life is to serve as a warning to others?
You need to find the PocketMirror software buried on the CD and run the setup.exe. It's very straightforward from there and works quite well. I sync to Outlook 2000 several times a day at office and home.
Hope nobody minds me posting this again, I posted it in another Topic but this seems like a better fit
I haven't tried Pocket Mirror yet. I've been using TrueSync to sync between my Palm, Desktop and Yahoo!. But tonight I added the the Outlook 98 Accessor for TrueSync and I'm now syncing all 4 with one click and have no problems with dups or missed records.
TrueSync allows you to sync to Outlook in 2 ways. You can have it sync all records from other devices/applications into a single directory and have those records assigned categories, or you can have it sync into different directories for each category.
Another very nice feature is that it's free if you have a Yahoo account!
The only problem I've seen is that it likes to disable some conduits (they're working on a fix). I think it was responsible for disabling my system conduit and I've read that it also disables the Secret! (encyption application) conduit. I've heard that they can be re-enabled, but I'm using BackupBuddy for my system backups so it didn't matter to me anyway.
So if anyone really wants to maintain their directory structure in Outlook, they might want to try TrueSync.

To bregent1...
I'm fairly new at this syncing business and while it's been going well, it's clear from your post that I'm not using the simplest or most efficient methods of getting everything together. Would you mind emailing me directly and letting me ask a few questions about how to get my syncing process better organized?
Thanks

I had exactly the same experience!
After reading this thread, I poked around in TrueSync and set it up to sync Desktop/Outlook 98/Visor/Yahoo, all at the same time. Everything was perfect, except that it disabled AvantGo, Documents To Go, and Backup Buddy! After LOTS of messing around and reinstalling I finally got everything back to the way it should be and I'm back to a two-step process also. I sync to Palm Desktop with the native HotSync conduit and I then use TrueSync to go between everything else.
Here's a FAQ from the StarFish website
*************************************
Description:
I had several conduits (AvantGo, Intellisync, Secret!, etc.) installed in my HotSync Manager. When I installed TrueSync Plus, I lost them. All I see is TrueSync and Install. How can I restore them?
Solution:
TrueSync replaces the Datebook, Address List, Memopad and ToDo List conduits, since that's what TrueSync synchronizes.
All other conduits will need to be reinstalled. Normally this can be done by running the Setup programs for each application you want to reinstall.
We fixed this some of this behavior in the 9/16/99 release of the Palm Device accessor. You may want to run "Product Updates" from your Start - Programs - TrueSync Plus menu to start Component Install, which will connect to our server and download the new accessor and install it.
There are still some conduits that get removed when you run TrueSync. We're working on improving this.

>out of the loop for TrueSync synchs and >everything is working fine. (I synchronize
>the Visor with Outlook first then Outlook
>with excite plannner. Two step process.)
I curious why you need to do this in two steps? Are you performing both synchs with TrueSync or are you using PocketMirror to sync with Outlook again?
And do you just use html tags to format your quotes in this forum, or is there an easier way. Thanks,
