Cable fries phone?

I recently purchased a cable (from gamadic.com) to use with my Kyocera2035a. From time to time when I connect the cable to the phone, my phone displays a "fatal error" and goes dead! Have any of you experience this? Since using my cable with my phone, my 2035a had been acting very weird lately (locked up when it is not supposed to, pushing the Menu button turns off the phone, etc ...) I'd like to hear from you.

If there's a short in the cable, anything could probably happen. Have you contacted Gomadic about the problem?
