- How To / Troubleshooting (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/forumdisplay.php?forumid=2)
-- Mail Questions (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=2847)
All,
Kind of a specific question, not sure if anyone else has the same software suites.
We're set up with a Netscape mail server and we're using Netscape as an IMAP client. Also, we're running Intellisync to sync with our scheduler software (Meeting Maker).
Question - is anyone using a Visor to sync mail to an IMAP client? It worked (by accident) at home with my ISP using Netscape as a POP client.
I'd love to get a copy of all the email in my inbox. Is there any way to do this? One of the problems is that Intellisync installs a 3rd party conduit that doesn't recognize Netscape as a mail client.
Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Mark
Search around on http://www.palmgear.com/
MultiMail, a complete mail application, claims that it can do IMAP. There is another that I got email from Palm's opt-in email service recently, but I don't know the name.
Search on maybe "netscape imap" and see what comes back.
I've used MultiMail PRO as an IMAP4 client and the optimal MultiMail Conduit and they both work quite nicely. With MM Pro, there is a "sync" option but it's not what you may think.
Through the use of the MM Conduit from Actualsoft.com, you can PalmOS-synchronize mail contents between the MM Pro inbox and many Win32-based POP and IMAP clients (I don't recall if Netscape was on the list but MS's OE is-- and OE4/5 supports IMAP and is what I use).
However, MM Pro supports IMAP4 mailbox synchronization over a modem (or PPP connection)-- allows mirroring of the mailbox contents on the server and the client. I know Communicator support this (most decent IMAP4 clients do).
Since it sounds like you prefer getting a copy of an E-Mail at work, at home and on your Visor. If so, I would suggest the MultiMail PRO and/or MultiMail Conduit Pack. The key is how you configure your mail clients-- leave the mail on the server and synchronize between all three (either IMAP4 or through the conduit...you'd need the MultiMail Conduit to exchange mail contents between Communicator and the Visor; and/or the MM PRO program to perform the IMAP4 synchronization over the modem).
