Review of the Visor Handspring Eyemodule http://www.eyemodule.com/
I have been one of the luck ones in Singapore to be able to get my hands on the Handspring Visor Deluxe and now having had the
opportunity to try out one of Handsprings Springboard Module the Eyemodule.
The Eyemodule works like a digital camera without the frills.
Picture 1 : small and easy to carry around and fits nicely into Visor
Picture 2: Close up of EyeModule. Camera lens and button to snap pics, the scroll up button can also be used to snap pics.
The eyemodule is an excellent way to capture images in both black and white and in colour.
The images that can be captured are in 3 formats:
1. Black & White [pixels 160 x 120];
2. Black & White [pixels 320 x 240];
3. Colour [pixels 320 x 240]
Capture if images under option 1 uses about 9K, 37K for option 2 and 187K for option 3.
The unique thing about this is that the Visor is transformed into a digital camera instantly [plug & play]
Picture 3: Inserting the Eyemodule into the Visor, make it immediately a Plug&Play tool.
The on-screen view finder is excellent, but if only the Visor was in Colour!
But nonetheless, the EyeModule is excellent. Image quality is satisfactory for this basic camera. The draw back is that there must
be enough light to capture clear, good quality pictures.
Picture 4: The Visor can be seen here as acting as a viewfinder and viewing the Pilot pen.
The one button snap is also useful. There are 2 of them, of located beside the lens and the other is actually the Scroll Up button.
So what are the practical uses for this sort of camera?
I was in Vietnam recently and was shopping for items for my Dad and I want to capture an image of an item I thought my Dad would
like. I whiz out my Visor, pointed at the item, push the button and it was done. At the hotel, downloaded the images to my laptop
and emailed to my dad.
My Wish List for the Eyemodule, would be 2 things. One would be was some sort of zoom, maybe a screw-able lens, like what
you have on LCD projectors and a small flash.
I hope you have as much fun as I am going to have!
Cheers!
