Just got this 'mail from Wristband Thinmodem

The ThinmodemPlus is currently in production. It should be available for release soon. We plan is to release the ThinmodemPlus with the V.90 (56K) code. It will also ship with a full version e-mail application from JP Systems
called One Touch and Browse-it 2.0. The ThinmodemPlus will come with an 8Mb Flash memory chip.

You will be able to access the 8Mb of Flash memory on the ThinmodemPlus with included File Mover application.
-----------------

We hope to have the separate V.90 update for current Thinmodem users available within weeks after the ThinmodemPlus is released. It will be a free upgrade for all Thinmodem users.

This update will also include Browse-it 2.0, and a full version e-mail application from JP Systems called One Touch.

Thanks,

Card Access Support

This is awesome, if true -- ought to really give the other modem mfgs. a run for their money.

"You will be able to access the 8Mb of Flash memory on the ThinmodemPlus with included File Mover application."

These guys can't be "InvisoGear," as the ThinModem's already a real product.
Sure puts 'em to shame, though.

Question A practical place?

Where is a practical place you could really use a dial up modem?

Any place where I don't have access to a PC, like those Sunday visits to mom's house. Yes, I could get a wireless modem or even use my StarTAC, but a good old v.90 dialup is faster and more reliable, IMHO.

I live in an area where there is no wireless data service available. In our case, it is the only choice.

But, even if it was available, I am not sure $40/month would be worth it to me for wireless service. I am sure it is for some people, but I wouldn't use it enough. Or even scarier, I might use it too much...lol
