Question

I just recently picked up the backup module for my visor and was curious how often I should backup my new data. Does it take a few minutes everytime?; or does it just update the information that has changed?

Talking

it starts from scratch every time, which means it takes some time.

the more memory uesd on your visor, the more time to back up.

i back up with the module about once every 2 weeks or so when i'm at home and syncing every day. on the road, i back up more often (no hotsync option!). i also back up whenever i decide to keep an app i like, because i don't have backup buddy.

that's my story.

Lightbulb

pbray,

i just remembered this (not important really, just a fun tidbit)

the bm does remember what the visor looked like when it last backed up. if things are missing (i.e. you've deleted apps or dbs) from your last backup (ie what it currently has saved), it will ask you if you want to restore. don't be fooled. back back up. don't restore (unless the things are missing because you had to hard reset or something terrible.) well, you know what i mean.

i just wanted to tell you that the idea of it knowing what to add isn't completely wrong. it's just too simple a device. it can indeed tell the difference, but it can't make any sort of discerning choice. back up or restore... back up or restore... back up or restore...

I back mine up every day, about half way through my work day. I work inside a Fabrication plant, and with all the RF and magnetic radiation around I get fatal errors on a regular basis. Once I had some data that got corrupted and then backed it up. Took me a couple of days to get that mess fixed.
