Anyone have any info for when this might happen. I am in a non GSM area, would love to use the Visor Phone, but I need to make a decision very soon about what service to buy. If Visor Phone in CDMA will be out to market soon, I will wait or get a REAL cheap model in the mean time.

The only info that I know of is the SB3000 by AirPrime. There was a news article last week about Sprint completing testing of the SB3000. (I personally do not care for Sprint, but that is because of poor coverage in my area.) The only date mentioned is that "AirPrime will provide SB3000 modules to its lead OEM partners for evaluation and application development during Q2, 2001." So when the SB3000 will be available for consumers is unknown.

Also, last September there was a news article about the SB1000. It mentions "The SB1000 will be made available to our lead OEM partners in Q4 2000 for evaluation and service testing." However the only reference I can find about it one AirPrime's site is the original press release.

On a side note: I just noticed that Verison is now selling the Kyocera QCP 6035.

I also saw the Airprime information. I was hoping that someone on Visor Central would have more info than was in those items.

I'm waiting on this one as well and have contacted Airprime and Sprint -- no info back from them. Airprime says it won't make announcements but will let OEMs manage PR and rollout. Only problem is that NO ONE at Sprint (when you're actually able to get through on the phone) has even heard of the SB3000.

I'm a Sprint customer (D.C. area) so I would plan on simply dumping my Startac and going with what I imagine will be a Sprint-branded SB3000. I'll post any info I get out of Airprime and/or Sprint.

What's the difference between the SB3000 and the SB1000?

The information on the SB1000 is very scant, so it is hard to tell.
