According to Pen Computing, the reason Handspring sells the red edge only on the web is because retail outlets didn't want it.

Could this be true?

Happy Treo 600 user, so far. Thanx Cingular for having an unlocked phone.

My Treo 600 is my phone, my PDA, my watch, and my MP3 player. Oh yeah, I take a picture once in a while with it. Convergence is such a great thing.

Anything's possible I guess... though I don't know if the retailers really carry that much clout. I don't know anything about retail but I would think that with a product like the Visor (any model), Handspring would have the upper hand.

Most retailers don't carry the orange or green Vdx, or at least the ones I know of - many have the option to order them for you though.

Actually, I was of the impression that they were only selling the red directly was because it would be a popular choice and they make more on direct sales. Just my opinion. I know that's the one I'd go for if I would've been able to choose. But my desire for retail comfort prevented me from such. I'm rather pleased with my decision, given the digitizer crap-out.
