-- Going to College.... (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=16081)

Well, it is time to leave home. :-)

I am going to University of Califorina, San Diego (UCSD); and I found out today that they have a 802.11b wireless network throughout most of the campus.

It is free to use, but I need a card. My question is if Xircoms wireless card is any good. Anyone use it?

I was going to get one for my laptop, but all I really want is instant messaging and e-mail.

Thanks!

Surfn

I think only the lecture halls and price center have wireless network access. You can check acs's website I know they have stuff on there. http://www-acs.ucsd.edu

Hey!

Nope, I am a third year transefer student....Earl Warren College. Thats very cool to meet someone else. I saw the website, but they only talk about computers with 802.11b cards......what about a Visor Platimum with a card? in theory, it should work.....right? I figure that I want E-mail away from home, but I don't want to spring for Omnisky....too expensive.

I'll be a second year student next year at warren college as well. Yeah, it should work, although I can't say for sure cuz I don't have one of those nifty modules. i actually use a cell phone with sprint PCS and connect through that.
