batteries going dead in 4 days

Hey....

I bought a visor... refub. (my plat. is dead. I killed it by dropping it in the sink full of water) ....

anyway....the visor eats batteries in like 3 days... I have gone to not using it .. and seeing how long they last... 4 days.

I sent an email to handspring and they sent me back a canned resposnse... anyone else out there heard of this? Will they swap it out for me?

T

I use Energizer.

And I do have quite a bit ..6 megs...
I deleted .. the VHS and the FA mover stuff... Avantgo and the visor phone extention. and I am going to see how long they last.

The funny things ... The batt. show no wear or drain.. then one morning .. DEAD with a hard reset.

Once.. I took the batt. out and they had life in them. I thought that was odd... but they would not work

I was wondering whether NiCad, NiMH, or alk ... but, as I don't recall Energizer having rechargeables, I'll assume alk.

Based on your other comments, my guess would be it's the Visor.
Once upon a time I had a tape player/recorder which, even when ostensibly "off" (all buttons neutral) still sucked power for no visible reason. This condition eventually disappeared for no visible reason.

Sounds like the backup capacitor has failed in a shorted condition. The easiest solution is to buy a new button board - it will come with a new capacitor. WWW.GetHighTech.com sells them for $10.
