how do I get palm reader onto my handheld?

I went to palmdigitalmedia.com to download the free palm reader and when I downloaded it to my desktop it opened up as gibberish in Wordpad. Same thing happened to me when I downloaded Cspotrun. All I want to do is take articles, etc. on the web and put them on my palm. help, anyone? Thanks.

"Opened up on your desktop"? You don't need to open the PalmReader (or CSpotRun) files, just 'unzip' them if they are compressed (.zip or some similar ending). If you do not have a unzipping program, stop by a download site (www.downloads.com) and look for one- there are several out there that are freeware.

Once it is unzipped, you can use the installer tool in Palm Desktop to install the file to your PDA.
