For some reason when I hotsync with my outlook calendar, it wants to bring in dates all the way to 2013. Is there a way that I can just import dates for this year only. All that info is taking up a lot of memory.

Unfortunately no. Maybe Intellisync can do that. You may want to edit your Outlook recurring events and make them end within the next 5 yrs or so.
