-- Anyone know of any easter eggs? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=610)

Cool

There are a few easter eggs on the Visor, but I was wondering if anyone's found any others that aren't also on the Palm.
For those of you who don't know about the easter eggs (or what an easter egg is), read on. An easter egg is something that has been hidden and undocumented in a program somewhere. Usually it's a picture or credits or an animation. In the case of big programs, like Excel97, the easter egg is much bigger. In Excel, you can start up this flight simulator in which you fly over a 3D landscape. But nothing quite so elaborate in the Visor, as far as I know.
Here are the Visor (and Palm Pilot) easter eggs that I know of:

Taxi: Go to the System Preferences program, and select "General." Just above the Calculator silk screen icon, draw a little circle counterclockwise. An easter egg will appear. Now, go to some other application, like Mail or Datebook or Memo Pad. While holding down the page down button, place your stylus in the middle of the graffiti area and move it all the way to the left between the Home and Drop Down Menu silk screen icons. You should see a little taxi drive across your screen. To turn this feature off, go back to the General System Preferences and tap the easter egg.

Dancing Palm Tree: Start the Giraffe game. Tap the Help button, and then draw the "#" symbol in the grafitti area (tap the graffiti area, then draw a backwards "N" from left to right). A dancing palm tree will appear in the screen.

Picture of two people: Start Giraffe, and start a new game. Hold the tip of your stylus in the lower right corner of the main screen (not in the silk screened area), and hit the page up button. Anyone know who these people are?

DOS Hard Drive Error: This one will only be funny to PC users - start Giraffe, and start a new game. Hold the tip of your stylus down anywhere in the top of the screen, and press the Page Down button.

So there ya have it. If anyone knows of some others, let us know!

Lightbulb

If the OS is the same, Easter Eggs are the same.

The OS is the same,

therefore Easter Eggs are the same

Yes but Handspring modified the OS to add springboard support. Also, the about screens have the Handspring logo. Maybe somewhere in there is an animation of someone doing a handspring over a palm tree.

Yes - agreed. The OS is NOT the same.

You might find new ones in the apps they changed, but that is about it.

Question

Chris B. How do you get the Excel easter egg you mentioned earlier?

Posted by mtn on 11-18-1999 07:42 AM:

Smile

Goodkray,

Here is the egg, taken from the site below:

(this is for Excel 97)
1. On a new Worksheet, Press F5
2. Type X97:L97 and hit enter
3. Press the tab key
4. Hold Ctrl-Shift
5. Click on the Chart Wizard toolbar button
6. Use mouse to fly around - Right button forward/ Left button reverse

A site that lists and rates many eggs is http://www.eeggs.com

Thumbs up

Wow! Extremely cool. Now I know what I can do while I wait for my Visor to arrive. Thanks for the info.
