Has anyone else with an Edge noticed that the included flip cover is poorly designed, in that the metal ridges on the top of the cover deform the plastic edge of the Edge? These 2 little pits that line up perfectly with the metal ridges developed slowly in the first weeks I had my Edge, and I've just now wondered if it's a defect in mine or in all of them. Anyone else have this problem? Am I too picky in thinking my $400 PDA shouldn't have little holes in its material? What would you do?

I don't notice what you're talking about. I checked the entire plastic "bumper" around mine and there were no defects. I'm assuming you mean at the top where the metal is screwed into the hinge?

Yeah, if you look at the flipcover, there are 2 metal pieces that are screwed into the plastic part of the cover. Each of these is designed with a protruding edge that helps seal around the screen. These protrusions are what is pushing into the bumper and causing damage (at the very top, near the 2 screws on the top of the bumper).

No one else has experienced this?

By design

The top part of the bumper (and the cover hinge) is angled slightly inward by design. Looking carefully, the cover hinge doesn't even touch my Edge's bumper when opening or closing, yet they are symmetric. Appears it is not designed to be straight across the top.

He's (I'm) talking about the metal cover, yes. Your diagram is right on the money, except that only the inner 2 arrows are pointing to metal that's causing damage. The pits are on the very top front of the bumper, right where those metal pieces come in contact.

Not the situation on mine or my friends. Sounds like you got a bad one.

Just thought I'd point out those are the types of graphics you can do with a Mac. I can only imagine how that picture would've looked using Windows.

On topic: mine's starting to show it a bit. Just the inside ones (as you mentioned).

you just would've had to reboot 3 or 4 times before you could finish it...

Nope no problems with it at all with both my new replacement Edge and my original one. And my original Edge snapped in pretty tight. Seems like you have a defective part.

My replacement unit from Handspring has been "hurting itself" as well. Must be a refurb. Oh well.
