other than the serial cradle, is there a "travel" serial cable kit for the platinum?

Mark/Space (www.markspace.com) offers a travel hotsync cable (DCH-H9) which is platinum-compatible. I recommend that product thoroughly! It's a good one!

Now, that's if you want a hotsync cable, and not a modem cable. Standard production DataCord modem cables (DCH-M9, DCH-M2, and DCH-CI) don't work with Platinum at present.

We did a prototype version of the Mark/Space DataCord - Modem which works with the Platinum. That was quite recently, and there hasn't been time to fully prove out a "production" version.

I would suspect that a low-power cable such as the "wac" cable would work properly, although I have not heard reports one way or the other with regards to the platinum in particular with wac cables. I would be interested to know the results of that, if anyone has tried that combination.

At present, it seems to me that only a few persons out there are aware of the benefits of low-power modem cables (extended battery life would be the key feature.) As more people become aware of the benefits, they will begin to call for products like this. And in every case so far where a demand has been apparent for a particular type of Palm serial cable, Personal Networking Technologies and Mark/Space have provided high-quality, reliable product to address that need.
