How do you carry your Stowaway? I'm wondering how many only pocket it and how many use some kind of a case and what that case may be.

I usually only carry it when I'm also carrying a brief case or backpack. When I'm travelling light I put it in my back pocket or leave it at home.

i think you posted my pictures of the RhinoPak 2000 and my visor/stowaway/modem module arrangement awhile back...

Well, I use to pocket it (either front pants pocket or shirt pocket, if I had one that day). The problem is, I felt like I was stretching out my shirt pockets, or at least it would make my shirt sag a lot. Plus, my pants pockets often end up having holes in them (sorry, I buy cheap pants). I didn't want to get a belt clip, since I already have a phone on my belt.

Here's my stylish, yet affordable solution:

a) Go to your local Army-Navy Surplus store. Bring your Visor with you.
b) Look for a pistol shoulder holster. Make sure it fits your Visor. (I ended up getting one with some kind of clip that presses the holster against the Visor. It holds in pretty well, even though half of the Visor is hanging out.)
c) If you go with the "clip" type of holster, you might want to pick up a nylon strap (the kind you find on your backpack) to wrap around the holster, just for added security.
d) Slide the visor into the holster, loop the holster through your belt, put it on your shoulder, look into the mirror, and say the words "You lookin at me" repeatedly. :-)

Costs: Police Holster- $10.50
Nylon Stap- $2.99
So the total is under $15.

What I found that worked for me was one of those leather cd cases that fold open when unzipped. Its just the right size and holds my stoway snug and secure....

I'm getting the RhinoPak 2000 in a couple of days. I bought it 15% off its real price and I think there is only one left at store.visorcentral.com

When I'll get it and test it I will see if it was worth the price or not. However, I've heard and read good things about it.

Stowaway is the Visor way to go..!

I'll save you the anxiety in waiting for the RhinoPak 2000 review:

I have a RhinoPak 2000 -- purchased after significant examination and analysis. It was the right move. It has 3 useable pockets and one "elastic" holding area.

Pocket one is a large mesh pocket on the front of the Pak, covered by a front flap (which houses a virtually useless zippered pocket) that is tied down with a very strong plastic clasp. I put my Springboards in this pocket.

Pocket two is on the inside front cover, a somewhat smaller mesh pocket. A neat feature of the inside of the Pak is the soft interior. I put my Visor in this pocket with no cover (except for a WriteRight screen protector), with the screen facing the soft cloth.

The "elastic" holding area is on the inside back cover. This is a combination of diagonal elastics that will hold down the intended unit. I don't like these elastics obscuring my screen - some use the elastics and the plastic Visor screen cover in tandem to hold their Visor in place. Instead, I put my folded Stowaway in there.

The back cover is a full-length, zippered pocket. I put money, credit cards, drivers licenses, receipts, etc. in it. I can't think of how to use it for Visor purposes, but it fills out the functionality of the Pak.

The size is a little large for my tastes. While I would love to have a jacket pocket unit to hold all of the above, I just have come to realize that it is an impossibility. The Pak comes as close as I've seen. It is about the size of a VHS videotape, perhaps 1.5 times a videotape in thickness when fully loaded with Visor, gear, and other stuff.

The unit itself is designed to "look rugged" - it's been promoted as the SUV of PDA cases. It has a bunch of loops, flaps, and reinforced zipper strings to enhance that image. The quality, construction, and durability also live up to the rugged/SUV feel. Strong nylon on the outside, padding between the cover and the interior, reinforced seams on the inside, and "cool" mesh on the two pockets. It'll definitely hold up over time.

So, it's a good case that isn't the cheapest. It's among the best that I've seen. But it's more like a duffle bag than a sleek little case - just know that that's what you're buying.

I have my VDX, the Stowaway keyboard, a Backup springboard, my cell phone, some pens, and the usual cash, keys, and cards to carry around all day. The simplest and best answer: The RhinoPak 3000. It has a shoulder strap to use if you're in Europe (or don't care what folks think) and a hand strap. It's padded, there's no Velcro, and you can use the Visor while it's snapped into its hard cover.

I finally got my Rhino Skin 2000 today. And I have to say that I found what I was looking for all these months. While I was waiting for its arrival I was kind of afraid it was going to be too big to be carried on my belt because I've read a few comments from people saying that it was too big. I don't want to say that they are wrong but for me the case is just perfect. I rate it with KUDOS and I would recommend anybody to buy it if they want to carry their visor and their Stowaway keyboard.

For my taste I think you can't get smaller than the Rhino Skin 2000 and a bigger case would be too much. Does anybody think a smaller case would work? Also, on the case I can take 4 extra batteries and a couple of spring boards + more.

I am 100% satisfy with my VDX, Stowaway and my Rhino skin 2000.

Well, school starts the 17th here and I have a solution finally. I was at Sam's Club, picking up my third (I lose these things so easy..) scientific calculator (got a nifty Casio 2 line displayer with a pocket calc that I gave my little sister for only $15). Well, I saw some new (I think it's new) Mead soft zipping binders. It had many, many pockets--one that was perfect for the Stowaway. So I'll be keeping my Stowaway there, and my Visor in it's OB2K or in my pocket. For those interested the side of the binder says "Mead" and under it "First Gear". It came with a college rule pad of paper, and 2 "First Gear" Folders.

This shall do nicely for keeping things together. It was only $10 too! I love being cheap . I also got a real nice olive drab color to match my backpack.

I really like the idea of a RP2K, but the price is too high for my needs.

Turn your back and run now, you haven't got a chance now

I have the Otter Box 3K for my Stowaway. It is perfect for both the keyboard and a springboard or two (depending on the springboards). I have the Handspring modem in with the Stowaway and it couldn't be more protected or a better fit (with the help of a little foam). I just slip this box in the side pocket of my backpack and secure the lanyard using a caribiner.

I do the same thing on the other side of my pack with a OB2K for my Visor. (As a non-mountain climber, I've always wanted a reason to buy caribiners!)

I have a small slim Targus camera case which it fits into nicely. There's also a front zippered pocket which I use for the HS modem, a phone chord and extra batteries as well as either the 8mb module or the sliding springboard cover. It's got a strap, belt loop and small handle. Actually I don't use any of those to carry it with, I just throw it in my briefcase or knapsack or luggage depending on which I'm using. I like it 'cause it's padded and keeps everything together. BTW, I don't use it to carry my VDX in cause I'm always pulling it out to jot a note, enter an ATM withdrawal into Pocket Quicken or a reminder.
