Any experts on modify the omniremote for X-10 control. If so, do you have any plans? I heard through the grapevine this might be possible.
Currently, X10 uses RF (radio frequency) while OmniRemote is IR (infra red). I inquired with X10 a while ago and they said they were exploring the possibility of a Springboard module but they have no firm information at this time. OmniRemote was also considering supporting X10 if I'm not mistaken.

It all started way back in February 2000 with a Blue VDX.
There are two major differences. (1) IR is line-of-sight meaning the transmitter and receiver must see each other while RF will work through walls, etc. (2) RF has a much greater range (somewhere in the neighborhood of 100' or so).
I have several X10 items scattered around the house, mainly lamp modules. I never have to enter a dark house anymore!. They also came in handy for the holidays to automatically turn the Christmas lights on and off.

There is an X10 Infra Red receiver that will work with the omniremote moodule in your Visor. It is normally a model IR543 from most sources, or model 4040 from smarthome.com. If you are primarily using your omniremote to control home theater gear in one room, then you can place the IR543 near your other IR controlled equipment and be able to also control your X10 lights and such.
I have one. The are X10 infrared codes available in many ONEforALL remote controls. Highly recommended.
