-- Renewal Batteries Okay? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=11180)
I recently got my Platinum and I installed everything that I had previously on my Palm III. I have used it for around 1.5 hours and the battery level is still at 100% using the batteries that were included. On my palm III however, I use Renewal Batteries and after 1.5 hours it would be at like 80% or less. Are the Renewal's no good for PDA's or is something up with my Palm III?
Though they will work I would not recommend them. You should use .7 shortcut to change battery type if you insist on using them.

Well, I have a ton of them and 3 chargers so I don't see any sense in not using them. I'm kinda new at this and I don't know what that .7 shortcut is, how do I perform it?
I've used them also with great results.
Shortcut7 cycles throught the different battery types. The effect is that the low bat warning voltage is changed.
Recharable Alkalines have the highest warning voltage because it is best if they are not deeply discharged. To change the settings, enter the shortcut symbol, followed by two dots and a 7. Do this in something like the Memo applications so you can see what you're tapping and also see the results. Repeat until you get to the correct battery type.
