Question

Just got my visor today and loaded the software onto my laptop that has my Palm Pro desktop.

After the first sync, on the visor menu I now have icons for a "Datebook" and a "Datebook +" The second has all the features that are new to the visor, (weekly view etc).

The question is why are there 2 calenders? Can I get rid of the older Datebook? It doesn't come up on the Delete App menu.

both date books are in rom, so they cannot be removed and do not take up any memory space. The reason there are two is because many people (my self included) prefer datebk3 which datebook+ is based on.

Question

rsperko,

I don't understand your explanation...
If they did it so people can install datebk3 why would you not be able to uninstall the other datebooks?

mmm, because they are in ROM I guess, but why did they put two datebooks in ROM??

My guess is that they wanted to keep the original Palm datebook, so that people upgrading from a Palm would still find what they were expecting, and people brand-new to PDAs won't get swamped by a bunch of advanced features.

Question

They both synched data from my old Palm desktop. Maybe it was part of the licensing deal from Palm that HS had to keep the original Datebook in?

Also they have not yet added beaming to DateBook+. So we still need the original DateBook.

Cool

If seeing both icons bothers you, HideIconHack (http://members.tripod.com/~hokamoto/)allows you to hide icons for unused programs which you either can't or choose not to delete.

Thanks for the Tip JT. That's a hack I didn't know about. Personally, my favs are MenuHack and Swipe. Menu Hack give me menus by tapping the top of the screen. Swipe give me 6 Ronomatic strokes instead of one (The Ronomatic is the stroke from the Grafittii area upwards that gives you, usually, the grafittii help screen)

Red face

I've been trying to make Datebook+ the default on my Visor, but it seems to keep running back to Datebookm even though I indicated the former as the default.

Anyone else experienced this?

Joel

There are not 2 datebooks in ROM. There is the original Datebook. Datebook+ uses the same database file for compatibility reasons.

umm...I don't see why you need a hack to hide the icon...I just have a category called "unused", and I throw things I don't want to see in there. I guess I'll still see it if I view "All" but I hardly ever do that, since that gets pretty cluttered with thing that I do use.
