Question

If you know where to buy an replacement case (i hate this painted case!) for my Visor Platinum, please help me...

I can't tell you where to get a new case, but I agree with you. I upgraded from a VDX to the Platinum and I wish they had offered a graphite color, I think it looks better in black(personal opinion of course).

Wink Platinum case

The VDP color is okay. I don't have as much of an issue with it as I do with the fact that Handsprings ships it with a graphit snap case. I use the snap case exclusively and I hate that fact that I have a two-tone visor. I going to buy a clear snap case off someone...this should make it look decent.

I found a site a month back where a guy had his entire Palm III professionally aribrushed white (why that color I don't know). But he said that it turned out really good. Maybe this is an option.

Yeah, I've been thinking about painting my visors' snap on cover with some design or something. I imagine painting the whole case wouldn't be too hard. I've been a modeller for some time, and have bit of experience with this- the real trick to a good spray job is cleaning off your greasy fingerprints with alcohol(paint doesn't stick to grease, oddly enough), and using many light, even coats instead of one heavy coat of spray.

One problem though. depending on the make of the VP's silver paint, the spray may not stick to it at all. if it's plated, you are out of luck, but if it's just shiny paint, no problem. You can always test it out by masking off a small area inside the case and testing it out befor you spray the outside.

Use glaquer based spray, available at any hardware store. (it may not say 'laquer' on the can, but look at the cleaning instructions, if it says you can use thinner, it's laquer)

Oh yeah, and be sure that you are grounded(touch the metal back of your computer, or any metal appliance that uses a 3 pronged plug) before you take the insides out of your visor. Don't want to fry your ram with static electricity, do we, now.

If you want to see a bunch of tricked out palms and visors(some painted), take a look at this URL: http://www.fureai.or.jp/~mori-t/
