Suggestions for durable case?

my son's V Plat got a broken screen. Fortunately, we had pdaslostorstolen insurance, so it only cost $35 (the deductible) to replace.

He's an 8th grader. He doesn't know how it (the screen) got broken. (backpack, back pocket, who knows).

What are the recommendations of this group for a durable case that will survive the rigors of middle school?

thanks in advance!

1. A leather case seems to help soften the impact of drops.

2. For awesome protection for when the Visor is in his backpack or otherwise packed away: check out the Otterbox. That thing is indestructible, and waterproof.

I think it's impossible to put a pda in your back pocket when it's in the otterbox!

Any leather case is a good recommendation - especially for someone so young. not only does it add to the padding and shock protection, but it makes it just "thick enough" that he won't be putting it in his backpocket.

For good 'crush resistance' in a pocket or bag, you might try 'smart cases'. I cant seem to find the URL right offhand, but I will post it when I do.

I believe they have been mentioned here before- a trim steel case with some fabric or leater bound to the outside. Supposedly, you can stand on them- and they only cost around $20!

If you don't want him to put it in his back pocket, OtterBox (specifically armor box) is the way to go! Love the company's guarantee. I've had nothing but good things to say about Otterbox!

Good Luck!

there are also metal hardcases out there that offer great protection and still fit in a back pocket. I know rhinoskin is selling their PV Al molded for around $29, not too bad...

The fabric-covered steel cases I was thinking of are called 'Smarter Cases" and are at www.smartercase.com.

Most of them seem to run about $19.95.

I did get the "smartercase"-- in camouflage, no less.

It was a hit!

thanks to all for your suggestions.
