please please help me
My desktop has crashed. I had to restore it last night so... I had to reinstall the Palm Desktop. Now when I click on the palm desktop, it won't open. It says it cannot access the datebook database. It then gives an error message : Palm has caused an error in MFc42.dll and it closes! UGH! Can someone please tell me how I can fix this? I would really appreciate any/all help that someone could provide. Thanks

no.
okay, I'm done messing with ya.
Was it just a random crash or is it related to a virus?
Did you happen to have a backup of your data? It might be looking for it and can't find (doubtful though, as you did say you had to reinstall). Related to that, did you HotSync your data back onto your computer before trying the Desktop software?
It's also possible that some change made at some point updated that particular DLL< and reinstalling loaded an older version which is causing the problem. or maybe the other way around.
From what I understand, that particular DLL is used by a wide variety of software, and it's not unlikely to have multiple copies (and multiple versions) scattered around. It's possible that Palm Desktop somehow can't find the one it wants.
This Google search may be of use as well.
