-- My Prism turns on automatically while in the cradle (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=8867)
Has this happened to anyone else??
It has happened to me twice.
Does anyone have any explanation??
thanks
Marc
Marc - I bet it's probably related to your loose power button. Mine hasn't turned on automatically yet although some hacks might cause a conflict here. I sent a message to the author of TrekSounds Hack where I was getting a soft noise during certain program options.
If you have any hacks try disabling and seeing if your Prism comes on automatically. If that doesn't change anything contact Handspring support and see what they say about that loose power switch.

I had clear hack enabled. I turned it off. Why would a possible loose power button cause this and why would a hack cause this. It only happens while in the cradle, nowhere elsw.. the button isn't completely loose.

Hacks
Hacks can cause all kinds of unforseen things. Why would TrekSounds hack cause a noise - based upon the noise it was making and the changes that I made to it to try and isolate the issue, it was actually cycling a noise based upon turning off and then on rapidly although the screen never came on.
By your switch being loose, if the actual connection to the board is loose it's possible that a power surge when sitting the Prism into the cradle might cause it to turn on. My guess is the lower the battery voltage the more potential there would be for it to turn on the Prism.
These are educated guesses based upon my experience with voltage and switches, which is both outside/inside the world of low voltage. It could also be a problem relative to the fact that Handspring chose to eliminate the "Stay on in Cradle" that is common on most of the other charging Palm/Handspring devices. I have also noted that my Palm Vx had 10 pins and the Prism only has 8 pins. Handspring has definitely tweaked this platform relative to Palm.
I've never claimed to be a know it all just trying to be helpful.

I checked my 2 VDx alittle closer against the Prism. There is a slight, very slight more play on the Prism. It does not rattle while shaking it, hardly noticible.
When my Prism sits in the cradle the screen flickers every 5-10 seconds repeatedly. I narrowed it down to Commander v1.46 ... don't know if this is what your device is doing or not.
