Unhappy

Well, I got my Omni Sky module today an after installation and everything running nice and smooth, I was about to transfer my MultiMail ap to be back on my visor since I can't have two modules in one. So, I take out my Omnisky module, and put in my thincom module and well, the screen kept cycling between the Palm main screen (what you see when you reset) and preferences. The only way to break this cycle would be to remove the module. Has anyone seen this sort of problem on a Visor. This is the first time I have. AMy backup module works fine and the problem only appears to be with the Thincom... but only AFTER I installed OmniSky.

Any help or insights appreiated. I'd stil like to use my landline now and then...

Thanks,
Mike

From your description it sounds as if it is an OmniSky/Minstrel problem. Did you have an O/M app, or an app that uses the Minstrel, active when you removed the Minstrel? If yes, that could have been it.

The day before yesterday I removed the Backup module without checking what app was last used, it was the Backup app, and the Prism had a real hissy-fit. In fact it did just what you said yours did. I ended up losing all of the data I had entered that day.

I've found it a good practice to switch to an app that does not use whatever SB module I'm about to remove.

I don't have a Minstrel so I'm not sure about this but, the Thinmodem, for some reason, keeps the serial port open at all times. I guess it's possible that the Minstrel may have done the same thing... pure conjecture on my part. The advice from dpdamour is good, too. It's wise to always return to the app launcher screen before removing and inserting modules (I even do it faithfully before turning the Visor off, too). Of course, any number of things can be at fault here, including any hacks that may be installed, low battery levels, etc.
