-- Kodak Camera Springboard (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=5593)
Since I live near Kodak's HQ, many people I know work for them. One, onec I showed them my Visor, told me that there will be a Springboard megapixel camera out by Christmas. He said that the price will around $149, and may be brought down to $99 after a while.

I'll order one today! I ran into a friend with the Palm Pix for his IIIxe and had hime take my pic. He beamed me over the pic and the app, and once I downloaded the condiut and got to see the pic on my PC I was impressed. Compared to the Eyemodule, it really kicks ass!

Megapixel springboard for $149?
I'm in!

Hmmmmmmmm......
I've been wanting a digital camera for a long time now. For 149 you can't go wrong for a meagpixel, and if it really is going to be avaible for Christmas I think that I can wait.
What I need now is some more solid information.
BEN
If the image quality and size is the same as the PalmPix, I'll buy one as soon as they are available! Preorder even!
I really hope this is a true rumor, especially the $99 price!
My friends uncle has a brother that went to school with the sister of the CEO of a company in Montana who's cousin cut the hair of the guy who used to work for Kodak. And he said....

The picture quality is better than the EYE. However, keep in mind the size of the attachment to the Palm. The camera is a bit large. I will consider it though. I still need something that can snap a picture of a White board during meetings that will be legible as a photo.
I'm dead serious!! The guy, who's name I can't give out for fear he'll be fired, said that the boards arrived last week and he's beginning work on the software.

jeff318 keep us posted! anything has to be better then the "blind eye module" mine took the worst pics i ever saw and stopped working within the first week! go kodak!!!!!!!! tell your buddy to hurry up we need a real camera for the visor....
Very much agreed! If this camera gives the same quality pix as the Palm version, and (gasp!) takes removable media, it's a winner.
I wonder if they have a discount price for a group bye? There is a jeep forum I use and they do this all the time. You get enough people to order in one shot and they will give ya a discount.
If so I'm in...

Rose's are Red
My Visor is Blue....
Does/Can it have a flash? I'm very interested in the Kodak camera. I would like to take night pics too.
You should see if your "friend" wants a dedicated group of beta testers, I volunteer. [email protected]
I have been considering the Eye, but if Kodak is going to make this I think I will wait. Oh and I second the beta test idea.
Yes, that will be really neat if there is a camera like that for the Visor.
Here is the image taken with the kodak PalmPix camera.

I just made a 'eyemodule: worth it?' topic in the springboard/ module area.
I was talking about how the price really held me back- but now if a camera is only 100 bucks, then I am all for it!

I have the eyemodule and am happy with it. It's compact enough to always be with me and I'm able to squeeze it in my E&B Slipper (kind of, anyway). I think if a Kodak module is similar in size to their Palm version, I wouldn't keep it attached and with me all of the time and that's what I like about the eyemodule. Still, I want something for some better quality shots and just ordered Intel's new Pocket PC Camera for $149. Only goes to 640x480, but can also do two minutes of video. If Kodak's module ends up being more compact than the palm version, I'll reconsider it.
Maybe my contact was thinking of the M100. He did say something like "That's the new Palm?".
Hmmm. I'll beep you posted, and try to pry more information out of him.

I doubt that KODAK will come out with a MegaPixel Unit. First there is power issues and second processor capacity. In any case the differences obtained by comparing an eye module with a Kodak PalmPix unit are really not that big to warrant further discussion.
If you want to compare things to generate discussion.Try testing a CASIO 115/125 Pocket PC fitted with their 350,000Pixel unit. I can only state that and in particular the Video system. When I review what is SONY is doing with their Picture and Video software bundled with the CLIE is basically trying to reach CASIO .
