-- Palm OS Emulator (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=11724)
Hullo. I was surfing the net today, in search of more information on KAIZO and clear buttons, when I stumbled upon the Palm OS Emulator. I thought it was kinda neat and stuff, so I decided to try it out. Works okay, right?
Wrong. Here's where I'm stuck: In order to use the emulator, you have to have ROM images. There are two possible ways to get them: off of the Palm OS site, but you have to join their 'Alliance membership' thing, which will take weeks, or download one off of your existing handheld. So I tried the second one out. I did everything that the manual said to do, but when I got to the connect step [where the PC and handheld 'talk' to eachother], the PC program prompted me for a port in which to synchronize. The only available option was COM1. As with most Visor people, the cradle is USB. Is there a way to connect to the emulator?

Poor poor me... wish I had one of these...
There are about 6 different threads running here on VC, do a search, one of them even tells you how to get the rom image from your Visor to use with the POSE (btw you need to download the version of POSE from Handspring (it's free), the Palm one will croak on the Handspring rom)..

The main thread on this subject is in the Developer's Corner entitled Visor Rom with USB - HOWTO. Also, you do not need the POSE on Handspring's site. The changes for POSE 3.0a7H have been folded into the latest version of POSE, 3.0a8.
