Question

I want to setup my OVDX with rechargeable batteries- I have a clever Idea on how to incorporate the charger into the cradle.

Anyways, My one and only module is the eyemodule 2.

The EM2 is a battery hog, and I want to know if anyone has had any experience with NiMH, Nicad, Rechargeable alkalines and whatnot with this module- did they provide the voltage necessary for the EM2 to work, how long do they last on a charge, how long do they last overall, etc..

any and all insight regarding batteries and the em2 would be appreciated.

I have a webcomic. You should read it, or I may do something rash. Drive-by Loitering is updated every monday, wednesday and friday.

make sure you update

Just make sure that you update your eyemodule2 first--there was bug that would report low batteries too early that was fixed in the v2.00 update. Since a lot of rechargeables have different voltage profiles than alkalines, this problem might be worse without the update. (You can download it at http://www.eyemodule.com/support/sw/e2/application.asp.)

That's a great link, BTW, also because w/out the SW upgrade, the EM2 would every now & then snap a photo and it would take up 500k! Totally fixed in the upgrade.

I KIND OF hear you on the batt issue -- but if you think it's bad now, get yourself an EM1!
MUCH BETTER NOW, b/c at least NOW there's some kind of mem. mgt. threshhold that checks for voltage-only, apparently ... so you still have lots of juice to run other apps, etc. on -- you just can't take more photos.
THANKS BLOCKS / IDEO!!!
STILLLLLLL, HOWEVER, WAITING TO BE ABLE TO EXTRACT PIX & MOVIES 1-AT-A-TIME TO MOVE THEM TO OFF-LINE MEM. CARDS, BUT STILL ALLOW THEM TO MOVE BACK TO RAM & SYNC LATER.
(Anyone find a work-around yet?)

Yikes! Sorry -- I didn't even ref. to batts!
I usu. alternate between the Radio Shack NiMh rechargeables and any discount alkalines I happen upon. Either seem to suit me, my HSVD & the Palm OS fine for all but ... using the EMx screens for more than, say, 1 min!

Hi there !

I use my VDX and EM2 with 250mA Nicad batteries, and they don't last long at all (I have to charge them every day).

ALSO, PUHLLLLLEEEEEEZZE, in EM3 could you NOT have the EM auto-boot and/or auto-boot into the BATT-DRAINING-VIEW SCREEN EVERY TIME? I've blown out more sets of batts that way....
