-- How will the SixPak wireless modem work? (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=5572)
I guess this question could apply to any wireless modem in general but I'm planning on buying a SixPak card. How will the wireless modem work? Will I be able to use it with my current ISP? Or will I have to subscribe to a seperate service?
I need to find out pretty quickly because my cell phone contract comes up for renewal soon, and if I want to get the SixPak card, I'm gonna have to get a different cell phone to use with it. And wheather or not I can use the modem with my current ISP will determine what kind of wireless plan I get.
By "wireless modem," I assume you're talking about the modem portion that connects with a cell phone. You shouldn't have to change your ISP if you're using a dial-up connection.
It might be more illuminating for all of us if you'd direct your question to Innogear, and post their answer on this board. Their FAQ page is pretty old, so there's no telling what cell phones the SixPak will or won't support by the time it's released.
I emailed SixPak on Thursday and this was the response I recieved this morning:
"Thank you for your recent contact.
You will dial up your standard ISP through your cel phone.
We have not yet finished testing for cel phone compatibility.

"Innogear" and "Rushorder" in the same email address!
I'm sorry but I don't think this module will ever see the light of day.

dequardo, why not?
Could you supply some more information?
Is it because of all the different cell phones out there?
I think dequardo needs to elaborate a little, he meant that it will never see the light of day because by the time Innogear releases the SixPac the sun will have already burnt out.
Hah! LOL. Your my subtlety is more than matched by your humor.
