Question Visor Neo Replacement Cases?

Just curious if there is a resource to get replacement cases for a Visor Neo.. I am particularly looking for a metal case, or just something thinner than what I currently have..

Are you talking about a protective case or replacing the actual casing of the unit? I believe I saw some replacement casings at a parts website, but they were the standard cases... nothing made of metal or reducing form factor. I have no clue if there are any aftermarket casings out for the Deluxe/Neo series, and if there are I would love to be pointed to a url. A brushed aluminum Pro would be so wickedly sweet!

As far as protective cases go, many people here will be able to give you great recommendations. Personally, I use a Kensington PDA Protector Case (http://www.kensington.com/products/pro_mob_d1441.html) with my Pro. It is exactly what I need. It is made of aluminum and adds very very little to the form factor of the Visor. It fits in any of my pockets quite nice. For $35 shipped from the Kensington website I think it's a great deal. Palminfocenter.com has a great review of the m50x version that holds true to the Visor version on most points. (http://www.palminfocenter.com/view_Story.asp?ID=2415)

You can get a replacement metal case, but it'll cost more than your Neo did. http://www.dave.com

edit:Holy Frijole!! Dave dropped the price of his enclosures!

Well, I feel silly that I've not checked Dave's site in a while. Those enclosures were going for $250 originally. I'm going to have to look at getting one for my wife's VDx before the 15th.

Indeed! Some people spend $100 on cases. I agree though, $250 is a bit extravagant. I e-mailed good ole' Dave and asked if he was planning to modify the design to work with the Pro.

Yeah, had these been at this price 6 mos ago, I wouldn't have sold my Platinum, with the ever wearing silver, for my Edge.

Unhappy Response from Dave

Response to my e-mail:

"Thanks. We don't yet have a product for the Pro, and I don't have any current plans for this model.
The inside is where most of the design differences are for us. Although ultimately it would be
simpler to machine, since there is no battery door or complex battery compartment like
the DLX/VPL, removing these from the 3D model and re-creating the toolpath is what takes
most of the time. I wouldn't rule it out for the future, but don't have an eta.

Thanks very much for your interest in our products.

Dave"

I understand where he is coming from... but drat!

Dave Stuff

Wow -

the price is *very* good for us VDX owners. The only things I still have as questions (hopefully Dave will read this and respond) is on the springboard slot, is there a billet springboard cover, and does he make a metal version of the digitizer cover?

Also, I've got an ICU charger plate that replaced my original battery cover. How would Dave suggest that I drill and insulate the contacts using the AL cover that is part of the replacement enclosure?

Otherwise, I'm stoked about it. Hopefully I can milk the overtime cow enough to be able to afford one. Now the question is getting the shiny one or the dull one....yup, shiny one.

Cheers!
