Smile Edge overboard!

Well, I just went through an interesting experience with my 3 month old Edge.

I've been keeping it in my shirt pocket and 2 days ago, while at work, I leaned over a a 2 foot deep pit of dirty rainwater and...splash!...in went the Edge. ^&*(%^$. It took me about 45 minutes to drain the pit after which I fished out the toy. There was a water level visible in the screen. Remembering some old camera info, I didn't turn it on, only shook out as much water as I could. With a tiny screwdriver I took off the back and let it set in a very dry air-conditioned room overnight. Next day I tried turning it on but the screen stayed blank. Put it on the charger until the light stayed on and -- surprise! -- it turned on! Memory was basically flushed (didn't know memory was water soluble ()) but after a successful HotSync, everything came back good as new! Fantastic! Kudos to the Handspring Underwater Design Team.

I heard about the same thing happening with a gameboy advance. It was dropped in a toilet ( ) and wouldn't work... They ended up naming the gadget "Jesus" because after three days it finally worked again.

kinda funny...

shirt pockets!

shirt pockets are bad m'kay? everything seems to fall out of them, and the chance that it'll fall out is of course directly proportional to the cost of of whatever you're keeping in there, in accordance with murphy's law...

I used to keep my edge in my shirt pocket until it fell out of it onto concrete, nothing happened other than a few very small scratches, but it would look brand new if it weren't for that damn ding!!!! and it's at times like this when I'm glad I got the silver edge and not one of the colored units even tho I'll be the first to admit that red is mighty purdy!
