A new idea for a spring board module???

What id like to see come out is some kind of a module that would incorporate sound in the visors. Like The HP jornnada and such. I module with a little speaker that you could play mp3 off of thru the visors memory. Or play little movie clips with the sound. BUt design it so another module can piggy back off of it. Like have the sound module plugged in and the memplug pluged into the sound module somehow. It may be weird lookin but would add to the visors ability.

That and a TV module. Maybe something that looks like the geode with an antenna on it and use the prism screen as the moniter. That wouldnt be too bad.

Anyone else have some ideas?

Handspring should just make a 64MB or a 128MB Visor with an mp3 player and a speaker built in. Shouldn't be hard at all. More memory, added software, and a small speaker should not add any bulk to the visor.

Not until XScale processors and OS 5. Right now the Dragonball VZ can only address 16MB on board RAM, and only 8MB for the EZ (Visor and deluxe)

So if you add all that to the visor you might have to hold it with both hands, no biggie. Just come out with a strap you put around your neck and you can rest the visor on your chest. Since we are bulking up the visor I suggest another feature that will start my car from a distance. Do I have to think of everything!

Are you the kind of guy who *needs* to start your car from a distance? Maybe you should consider a different line of work, or maybe just have an unfavorite friend start it for you!

BTW, is that eye2 avatar self-portrait also a l-avatar-y picture?

Yes im the type of guy that needs to start my car from far away. Here in PA when its gets to the winter seasons its not too pleasnt scraping a sheet of ice off the windshield in the bitter cold. So I like to start the car in the building have the defrosters on and melt that ice away. And if you ever ran to the car in cold weather, nothing beats getting into a warm car. Know what i mean.

And yes, your keen eyesight has revealed my photo location. Grant it there was no one there when i did it, not that they'd know I had a camera in the bathrooms. But not only is a bathroom a source of great acoustics its probably the best source of light in front of a mirror. Good job Scooby!

Living in California, real cold is pretty much of a foreign concept, so when you talked about being able to start your car remotely, the first thing my mind jumped to, was checking to see if the car was wired with a bomb by starting it remotely!! My overeager mind has obviously seen one too many crime movies!

I guess you are right about that bathroom-as-a-movie-set thing, because you are the second guy to use the bathroom as a setting for an avatar self-portrait.

In your case maybe a car starter could be used to air condition the car so you dont get into an oven when you enter the car, that and a car bomb checker I guess. I must admit I also like to use them to scare the crap out of the elderly. When they walk by the car i start it up and they look around as if they did something then walk away fast.

Really, the second. I hope gadgetguru wasnt the first, if so he must be pretty rich to have a couch in the crapper.

Well there goes my goal to be the first person ever to avatar in the bathroom.

Yeah, I thought someone might post this.

That's what sucks about the Visor, that it's sort of dependent on what Motorola and Palm decides to do. It'll be cool if they got someone to make a faster/better processor that can handle a lot more while consuming less power ...

Ultimate Module

I think that the ultimate Springboard module would be a Visor Phone, with a CF card adaptor and a SoundsGood .MP3 player built in(without the memory, see the next sentence). The CF cards would be used to store APPS and .MP3s. The only problems I could see with this setup would be the price and the power consumption (althout SM cards might work better than CF cards because they consume less power, but they might not be fast enough for .MP3 playback). Also, I forgot to mention that it would have a little Flash ROM for the built in Utilities that would be necessary and it would have a headphone jack.
