I was wondering how bad is the resolution of the eyemodule. I've seen good pictures in other forums around the web but I've never seen bad pictures. It doesn't matter if they are bad because of light or distance, I just would like to see the worst sample pictures someone could have taken with his/her eyemodule.

PS. if they are not as bad as some people say, I might buy an eyemodule; otherwise, I'll just wait for the eyemodule II. (just guessing..! )

I leave probably 99% of my eyemodule photos alone... that is to say, I don't delete many or photoshop them before putting them online, so you can get a good sense of the good and the bad. You can check them out at:

Those are pretty nice pictures Andy. I can see that light is an important factor for the eyemodule. The eyemodule lack of details makes me think more than twice about buying one. I don't know about you but my eyes got tired of seeing too much blur on some pictures. The worst pictures are the ones taken indoors and at night. Man... there was a picture that I was like: "what the heck is this?"

Actually that's the Theme building at the L.A. Airport, which has indeed often been likened to a UFO. I was surprised that came out at all, given the light conditions. Bright + evenly lit (I.E. overcast) is best... bright + high contrast isn't so hot, and nighttime indoor is worst.

I still haven't quite figured out what makes for the sharpest focus - a range of 4-6 feet seems best, but even then some pictures come out a little blurry no matter how bright it is.

All in all I still love my eyemodule for its portability and "it's better than no picture at all" factor.

I did a quick photoshop despeckle/level adjust/sharpen on the pic above... you can't do a lot with night shots, but a lot of daytime shots clean up very nicely with manipulation.

But then, it's not supposed to be a high end digital camera. It's supposed to let you take pictures from a PDA. Maybe in the next version they'll include a flash port or something. I have a 35mm SLR that tells me when there isn't enough light to bother with a picture. Maybe that's all the Eyemodule needs... the ability to "refuse" to take a picture if it knows there isn't enough light.

One question... how does a de-speckle routine know the difference between spots and stars?

Stars? You can't see the stars in LA!

Even if you could I don't think you'd be able to pick out a constellation on an eyemodule image
