-- Desktop? I'm confused (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=232)
Browsing Handspring's site at
http://info.handspring.com/developers_kit.html
I found the following snippet:
"...The only requirement is that you use the new Desktop software to
download your application to Visor because it needs the USB driver (you
still need the new desktop if you bought the serial cradle because it is
different than other Palm OS based devices). If you want to develop or
port your application on a Springboard module, you need to use the tools
below."
I currently have a PalmIII with Franklin Planner desktop software.
Does this mean I might have trouble syncing if I get a Visor?
Thanks,
Bob
I doubt it. I assume Franklin uses a PalmOS conduit to the Hotsync software, which means that once you update your desktop software (Hotsync) the change will be transparant to the Franklin soft.
I don't know this for sure though...you might want to
a) ask the manufacturer
b) read the user's manual...I would hope that it would tell you how the syncing works
My experience with the Franklin software is that you may not be able to sync to it, though you should be able to sync to the new version of the Visor Desktop.
Basically Franklin uses a cutom version of HS to map all requests to the new software, installing a new version of HS could destroy that.
