Question

I wanted to ask anyone with the otter box how they like it and if it would be able to fit into your pocket. I also wanted to know which stores or websites sells the otter box. Thanks

I really like my OtterBox 2000. It can fit in a pocket, but people will be giving you strange looks. It is a bit too large to be carried comfortably in such a manner.

I use it for backpack protection when the added bulk is not the issue, protection is.

Here's a list from the otterbox site of various web retailers. I have found a few of these links to be either redundant or no longer carrying the box.

FWIW, I'm going to buy a 3000 to keep my stowaway and springboards in, also for backpack protection.

My friend and I with our Blue Visors both use an OtterBox 2K. It will NOT fit in your pocket, it's rather bulky. I use this in my bookbag and am always assured that I can run over it and what not (I've seen too many people runover their bookbags with their cars--honest to goodness). I recommend it for its cheap price and EXCELLENT protection. I just hope my Rhodina will fit in here. PS if you are considering a 2K -considered a OB3K if you want room for larger than normal springboards.

FWIW, I've had the Otterbox 2000 in my pants front pocket before, but then again I'm 6'5" and a good bit over 200lbs. I suppose bigger britches have bigger pockets.

Well, I've never seen them anywhere but online, but I'd look at a scuba or canoeing type shop; a place that would have a market for keeping things protected and dry.

REI sells them online, so maybe if you live in a big city that has an REI outlet that would be an option.

Good luck,

Thumbs up

Speaking of Otterboxes. . .

I decided to invest in some cases that would offer protection to the small electronic stuff that I usually pack for hunting and camping trips, i.e., Visor, GPS, mini-TV, camcorder, cel, pager (wait, that stays home) and was ready to pull the plastic and get Otterboxes. Shopping around pays (or should if the delivery is made). From the Otterbox site, I found 3 or 4 sites that distribute their products and settled on www.cases4less.com because even with shipping, the prices were sweet. I'm getting two of the 3000 and a 2500 for the price of one 3000 and one 2500 at other sites.

5 years from now, one electronic unit will do what my 5 or 6 separate devices do. Maybe I'll keep them for sentimental reasons, since I'll have a waterproof place to store them. On the other hand, things might go the way of stereo equipment. While there are manufacturers that fit everything into your receiver (amp, tuner, etc.) there is still a market for components. Seems like the dedicated components are built a bit better than the compiled products.

www.gear.com finally have some otterboxes available for the best prices that i've seen ($13.00 for the 3000 and $9.00 for the 2000) and only 25 cents for s&h. the only catch is that their available colors leave a lot left to be desired.

i was lucky and snagged two 3000 otterboxes (clear top/green bottom) a few months ago before its use as a pda case became popular.
