-- The list of vaporware grows..... (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=8401)
Here it October 2nd, and we still do not have a voice recorder module. Global Access / Remote Solutions have missed their release date for the Word Access recorder, and there's no word from Shenei on the MyVox. Considering I can walk into any office supply store and get a digital voice recorder for under $50, my patience with these two companies is growing thin, especially after the unannounced removal of the voice recorder from the MiniJam.
VOICE RECORDER
I TOO AM WAITING FOR A VOICE RECORDER MODULE FOR THE VISOR. WHERE DID YOU SEE A DIGITAL VOICE RECORDER FOR 50.00 MOST OF PLACES NEAR WHERE I LIVE THERE IN THE 100.00 RANGE

I agree...just be thankful that these 'pathetic' companies are not running your network or in any way-shape or form, servicing your business. Be thankful they are just trying to produce for what some, are sure to be 'novelty' items.

In general, release dates for computer products often miss the mark, sometimes by months or years. The computer industry must announce more accurate dates. I usually add any where from 6 months to 3 years to 'announced' shipping dates.
Wow...... I guess everything is OK then.
Its a rather interesting tactic .. by announcing and pushing back shipping dates & feature sets, companies create the following scenario:
1. They make it seem like they will have their product to market rather quickly, therefore making any potential competition think twice before entering the market..
2. By pushing the amount of features, it again artificially sets the bar for possible competitors much higher than what it will end up being..
3. Customers inquire about the product and provide feedback regarding the product/features before huge amounts of money are sunk into develop ...
4. If a competitor releases their product first, customers may hold out if the vaporware is percieved as having a better price/performance ratio...
Granted, the downside is missing the release date several times and pissing off those potential customers -- however, it seems like after the product is released, people as a whole tend to forget the deadlines and the vaporware tactic works ..
*sigh*

global access also missed the date on the infomitt pager. it went from august 15 to the 30th to september 15th, and then no news. when i called they said they are not beta testing - Don't you usually beta test before offering the product to the public? anyway they said i could be a beta tester and i would get my pager this week so they have 3 more days untill they miss another timeline. this is so pathetic. if springboards weren't such a specialty item noone would put up with this crap. the way things are going im going to have to buy a new handspring before any modules come out that would have been compatible with the old one (veiled reference to the shielding issues with the glenayre).
Buy another Visor? Are you NUTS?!?!? Have you seen all of the stuff CURRENTLY available for Palms? When my VDx dies, it DIES. No more vaporGear for me.
