-- Palm VII web clippings to Visor -- Let's figure it out. (http://discussion.visorcentral.com/vcforum/showthread.php?threadid=2957)
Ok, I plan to get a modem soon for my Visor and want to be able to use some of the Palm VII web clipping applications. I came accross a site that explains how to get the Palm VII web clipping apps on to other Palm devices. http://www.geocities.com/daveinfopa...ebclipping.html
I tried it out but was not able to get anything to work. I first backed up my Visor with my backup module incase this hack sent it to an internal lockup loop. I then loaded the Palm VII libraries as indicated on the above web site and then did a soft reset. I didn't see the web clipping application. I've never seen a palm VII so I thought that I had to load a .pqa. Still didn't see anything. I did a soft reset while holding the up arroow and I can see some of the Palm VII libraries that I installed but not all of them.
Anyone else want to try to get it to work. I don't have a modem yet so it would be cool if someone out there could figure it out.
Heyday
It says you need Palm OS 3.3 or higher. The visor has 3.1H

I have a VII and a Visor and for an experiment tried loading the libs onto it as well. As mentioned above, I read also that OS 3.3 was required, but I'm guessing the only reason is that OS 3.3 recognizes the files in the Launcher. There is a syntax (programming-wise) for launching "Clipper" with the correct parameters in order to run a web clipping, and I might look into writing a little app that does this some time. The only disturbing thing that I encountered was that PQAs need to go thru a proxy (defined in the Wireless Prefs screen), but when I loaded the Wireless Preferences panel onto my Visor, it crashed when I went to it in Prefs. I do know that it doesn't crash on a 3.3 machine though. Anyone else have a similar experience (I doubt that anyone even tried this :P)
Anwyway, if the Wireless prefs screen is not required, I'll see if I can write up a little program to make PQAs when I have the time...
