The Houston Curling Club (yes there is one!) is having their finals this Sunday. I'm going to check it out if I can get up early enough.

For those that have played, do you generally play in tennis shoes or is it something special? It looks like one shoe is slick and another is used for pushing off.

well, i guess i mis-heard the news the other day. it doesn't look like the movie is coming out for quite some time. oh well, i've heard good reports from the 'sneak preview' shown a few days ago.

As for the shoe question, there are special slip on soles that go over your shoe, but most (maybe all?) curling rinks have a little stand that lets you put a strip of plastic tape over your tennis shoes. it works generally the same. Let one foot slide while your predominant foot push.

Felipe -

If you're really interested there is one of the largest curling clubs just north of the city in Hastings-on-Hudson. They meet regularly, are open to the public, have clinics, etc.

I looked in the phone book and find two listings:
Curling Club of Ardsley 914-591-9800
Curling Club of St. Andrews 914-747-5400

Good luck!
